Strawberry Chocolate Chip Cake

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 tablespoons Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ⅓ cup chocolate chips, plus more for sprinkling
  • 1 pound strawberries, hulled and halved

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line the bottom of a 9×3-inch springform pan with parchment paper and grease the sides.
  2. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter, Greek yogurt, and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the egg, then milk and vanilla.
  4. Gradually mix in the flour mixture until just combined. Fold in ⅓ cup chocolate chips.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Arrange strawberries cut side down on top, and sprinkle with additional chocolate chips.
  6. Bake for about 1 hour until golden and a tester comes out clean. For a nice presentation, add more chocolate chips on top in the last 5-10 minutes of baking.
  7. Let the cake cool in the pan on a wire rack before releasing it from the springform pan.
